Remembering the Pain of Abortion and the Loss of Our Children in the Wake of 9/11 Memorial

“Don’t you see that children are GOD ’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭127:3-5‬ ‭MSG‬‬

As the 9/11 Anniversary looms, let us not forget the loss of our unborn.

September 9th is National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. As we solemnly observe this anniversary, we must remember and repent. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Every day over 3,000 children are aborted in America. This staggering number takes a toll on our whole nation; spirit, soul and body. In the African American community the numbers are disproportionately high due to the mission of genocide and eugenics agenda of Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion provider. Abortion is a bad product for babies and their mothers. Abortions kill babies and hurt women.

And to make things worse, abortion providers many times seize the opportunity to exploit natural disasters, like Hurricane Harvey, by capitalizing from the pain and circumstances that these victims find themselves in, one of the most stressful times in their lives.

One particular provider, Whole Women’s Health, is offering “no-cost abortions” to victims of Hurricane Harvey. So many of these people have lost their homes, personal property, and sometimes loved ones and of they take up abortion providers on their offer they will also compound their situations by grieving with the death of a lost unborn child. Let’s also remember, there is no such thing as a “cost-free abortion.” There is always a cost. The cost is the life of the baby and the harm caused to the mother, the immediate family and the human family.

This year as we observe the memorial deaths of our aborted brothers and sisters, two of my own babies included in that number, let us pray a prayer of Repentance and commitment to never be silent, never be passive and never be forgetful until all of our brothers and sisters are protected and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice for all.

Let us encourage our President and Congress to keep the commitment to Defund Planned Parenthood.

Finally, let us pray for all in authority; our President and all leaders (1 Timothy 2:2), that we can live peacefully; and that our babies can live. God bless America.

Priests for Life to Honor the Unborn at National Day of Remembrance

Friday, September 11th, 2015

Date: September 10, 2015

Contact: Leslie Palma

NEW YORK — The Priests for Life pastoral team will honor babies lost to abortion during the third annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children this weekend. The event was founded by Priests for Life, Pro-life Action League, and Citizens for a Pro-life Society. See

The Day of Remembrance also launches a week of prayer and fasting (September 12-20) to end abortion and the evils of Planned Parenthood (

The coast-to-coast services at gravesites and memorials take on added significance this year in light of the scandal of Planned Parenthood’s harvesting and sale of baby body parts.

“Most of the babies buried in these gravesites across the country were recovered after their bodies had been illegally disposed,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and author of Abolishing Abortion. “In many cases, pro-life people who attended the funerals and burials had the opportunity to give some honor to these bodies, which had been so dishonored in the abortion clinic.”

Father Pavone said it’s more important than ever for pro-lifers to attend these nationwide services because America’s awareness of what happens to children after abortion has been heightened and the memorial will underscore the point that these babies are human beings who have been subjected to numerous indignities, beginning with their brutal murders.

Father Pavone will speak Saturday, Sept. 12, at the 30th anniversary service for more than 16,000 babies buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Los Angeles. The babies were discovered in a locked storage container and were the subject of a three-year court battle between pro-lifers who wanted to honor them with a burial and abortion advocates who wanted them disposed as medical waste, thus stripping them of their humanity. The babies finally were buried in 1985.

The service at the Odd Fellows Cemetery is sponsored by the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and Foot Soldiers for Life, and will begin at 10 a.m. PT. A Spanish service will take place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.

Father Denis Wilde, OSA, associate director of Priests for Life, will deliver the keynote address at the Ocean County Memorial Park Cemetery in Toms River, N.J., where 100 babies are buried. The service will begin at 10 a.m. ET.

Priests for Life Youth Director Bryan Kemper will speak at the gravesite for six babies at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio, at noon ET on Saturday.

Father Stephen Imbarrato will lead the service at the Tomb of the Unborn Child at Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, Conn., at 4 p.m. Friday.

Priests for Life, Citizens for a Pro-Life Society and the Pro-Life Action League sponsor the annual National Day of Remembrance.

“As we work to defund the abortion industry and to pass laws on the state and federal level that protect children living in the womb, it is only right — and a natural aspect of a culture of life — that we honor and mourn the over 56 million children who already have died in this American holocaust, and be present to those who have been buried,” Fr. Pavone added.

The prayer campaign that also begins on Saturday asks Churches to incorporate specific prayer intentions into their worship services, and urge their members to pray individually and in their families, for and end to abortion and the evils of Planned Parenthood. Specific prayers are offered at that focus on the conversion of abortionists, the healing of those who have had abortions, and the strengthening of public officials.

Fr. Frank also announced that in Philadelphia, the memorial service for the babies killed by Kermit Gosnell will be held on Saturday, October 24. The date of that service was moved due to the Pope’s upcoming visit to Philadelphia.

Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and announced that there will be two more similar campaigns in September and October, with the specific intention of ending abortion in the United States and ending the evils perpetrated by Planned Parenthood. Details and registration are at

The first of the two new campaigns will be from September 12 – 20. It launches on the National Day of Remembrance (, when simultaneous prayer services will be held across the nation at the gravesites of aborted children and at various monuments set up in honor of the unborn.

Planned Parenthood Guilty of Murder, Priest Asserts; Congressional Hearing Major Step Forward

Tuesday, September 8th, 2015

Date: September 8, 2015

Contact: Leslie Palma

WASHINGTON — Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today regarding a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Planned Parenthood:

“Congress will begin hearings on Wednesday into the activities of Planned Parenthood. This initiative of the House Judiciary Committee, entitled ‘Planned Parenthood Exposed: Examining the Horrific Abortion Practices at the Nation’s Largest Abortion Provider,’ goes hand in hand with its ongoing investigation of both immoral and illegal activity on the part of Planned Parenthood.

“This step is, first of all, completely consistent with the very purpose of Congress and of government overall, which exists to secure the rights of the people it serves, starting with life itself. Second, it is imperative that Congress investigate potential illegal activities of an institution that receives a million and a half of our tax dollars every day. That should be a concern of every taxpayer, whether that person favors or opposes legal abortion.

“Third, in focusing on the details of late-term abortions, these hearings do a tremendous service to our nation as we continue to wrestle with the abortion issue. Most Americans who identify themselves as ‘pro-choice’ do not believe abortions should occur in the latest stages of pregnancy. And most of those who are unsure will become sure when they focus on the details of who these babies are and what abortion does to them.

“I have been a part of projects that investigate the abortion industry and I can say with certainty that there are Planned Parenthood personnel who — by the standards of the law — are guilty of murder, because some of the babies scheduled to be aborted are born alive and are killed outside the womb. Federal law prohibiting that practice needs to be enforced; Planned Parenthood is not above the law. Nor should it be above the basic moral standards of any civilized society.

“This week concludes with the National Day of Remembrance ( on Saturday, when simultaneous prayer services will be held at dozens of locations around the United States where the bodies of aborted babies — many of them killed by Planned Parenthood — are buried. I am proud to help coordinate this national observance. Like the hearings themselves, it helps our fellow citizens realize that abortion is not just about viewpoints, but about victims; it’s not just about beliefs, but about bloodshed.

“Also on Saturday, a national prayer campaign begins ( and focuses on praying for an end to the atrocities committed by Planned Parenthood. I urge all individuals, families, and Church communities to participate in this special period of prayer and fasting to last from September 12 – 20th.”

Remember All Aborted Children at Sept. 12 Services

Thursday, August 13th, 2015

Date: August 12, 2015

Contact: Leslie Palma

NEW YORK — The third annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children – to take place Sept. 12 at gravesites and memorials all over the country — takes on a new significance this year in light of a series of undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood officials trafficking in the organs and limbs of aborted babies.

“The recent revelations about abortion giant Planned Parenthood’s practice of harvesting and selling body parts from aborted babies makes it all the more important for those of us who love these children to visit their gravesites,” said Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, which is sponsoring the memorial with Priests for Life and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society.

“This small handful of aborted children whose bodies have been buried in sacred ground — rather than incinerated, flushed down the drain, or dissected and sold for profit — represent all the tens of millions who have been abandoned since abortion was made legal,” Scheidler said. “Let us visit them on September 12 and mourn as we should for all of abortion’s unborn victims.”

Solemn prayer vigils will be conducted at many of the 47 gravesites of aborted babies throughout the United States, as well as at dozens of other sites dedicated in memory of aborted children.

Tens of thousands of aborted children have been retrieved from abortion mills and other facilities and given the honor and dignity of a burial. The stories of how they were killed, how they were found, and how they were buried, along with the pictures and videos that document those events, can be found at, which also has a list of burial sites and services, and suggestions for ways to get involved.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said leaders of the pro-life movement have long known about the sale of baby parts but now the rest of America is catching a glimpse of the true nature of abortion.

“America is seeing the baby – not the fetus, not the products of conception – but the actual child who is killed in abortion,” he said. “We need a strong show of support at this year’s memorial service to put the abortion industry on notice that this nation is quickly reaching the point where we will no longer tolerate this barbarism.”

The National Day of Remembrance, Father Pavone said, “creates a focal point for our grief, both national and personal, and for the education of future generations. These services also will provide opportunities for an urgent call to healing after abortion for the women who have suffered from this terrible choice and are now grieving again as they watch the undercover videos that show the truth about abortion.”

Monica Migliorino Miller, director of Citizens for a Pro-Life Society noted that, “Since 1973, 58 million human beings have been killed in legalized abortion. This is a national slaughter — and so few, indeed a mere fraction of those human lives, managed to find their way into a human cemetery. The recent undercover videos that show Planned Parenthood officials haggling over the sale of aborted baby body parts reveal that indeed human beings are killed in abortion as their torn bodies lay in the back rooms of these clinics. Those bodies will never see a humane burial.

“When we honor the graves of the aborted unborn we pay honor to all the unwanted unborn. How ironic that the last work of mercy, to bury the dead, is for the first work of mercy these buried aborted babies ever knew. The least we can do is honor them and allow their voices from the grave call us to end the injustice of abortion.”

While the simultaneous services around the nation will be held on September 12, the National Day of Remembrance Team also announced that on Saturday, October 24, a special memorial service will be held in Philadelphia at the site where the bodies of babies killed by Kermit Gosnell were retrieved from his abortion facility. Gosnell is serving life in prison for killing some of those babies who were born alive. The date of the Philadelphia service was moved due to preparations being made for the imminent visit of Pope Francis to the city.

This Planned Parenthood Scandal Gives Grave Robbing a New Meaning

Tuesday, August 11th, 2015

150811 blog image

StemExpress and Planned Parenthood, both recently featured in Center for Medical Progress videos, are taking grave robbing to a new level according to Richard Esposito, the publisher, of the Placerville Mountain Democrat. He writes that “grave-robbing has become acceptable in the name of science and those engaged in the business can make a good buck.”

So for some, the work of baby body part harvesters is akin to grave robbing, a practice that involves bodies being dug up after burial in order to harvest their body parts for research.

In the case of aborted babies though, most of the bodies don’t even get buried before someone is lining up to claim their body parts. In many cases the dignity of a human person’s life has been so devalued by acts such as abortion that the defenseless preborn babies are not even recognized as humans but as commodities, to be chopped up and sold to the highest bidder.

As a post abortive mother, I still shudder to wonder what happened to my aborted and miscarried babies; little people. When I attended a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat for healing after my two abortions, and miscarriage I named and memorialized the babies. This forgiveness and healing process, available to everyone, helps to restore dignity to those lost and harmed by abortions.

Thank God for Priests for Life, and all pro-life warriors who respect human life and work to restore the dignity that has been taken away from millions of aborted babies and their parents. Because Baby, Mother and Daddy suffer in the process.

Many aborted babies never receive names, proper burials or graves. But Priests for Life is working to change this indignity.

At a naming ceremony in June 2013 despite the medical examiner’s refusal to release the babies for proper burial, The baby victims of Dr. Gosnell, the doctor convicted on three counts of first degree murder for ‘snipping’ the spinal cords of babies he delivered alive, were given names, and memorialized.

Fr. Frank has also presided at a number of funerals for aborted babies. Also, on September 12 of each year there is a National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children where memorials are conducted at sites all over America in tribute to the humanity of the aborted children.

All too often society would look away from the truth that babies being aborted by the millions. Yet we must not forget that these babies are human beings created by God; little human persons deserving of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Pro-Life Groups To Pray at Graves of Aborted Children

National Day of Remembrance set for September 13

NEW YORK — Dug into the walls of the ancient Christian catacombs in the outskirts of Rome are countless small tombs, only a foot or two across. These are the burial places of infants cast out of their pagan homes and left to die of starvation and exposure—a common practice of that time. Members of the Early Church, charged by Christ to love all their neighbors, offered these tiny victims of Roman cruelty the only act of love they could: to bury their little bodies and mourn for them in prayer.

This tradition of mercifully burying abandoned children continues in our own day with the “National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children,” taking place on Saturday, September 13. Mourners across the country will visit the gravesites of aborted children, whose broken bodies were recovered from trash dumpsters and pathology labs and solemnly buried over the four decades of legal abortion in the United States.

Under the director of three national pro-life groups— Citizens for a Pro-life Society, Priests for Life, and the Pro-life Action League—simultaneous memorial services will be held at more than 40 such gravesites, as well as at scores of other memorial markers set up in memory of the aborted unborn at churches and cemeteries.

Eric Scheidler, Executive Director of the Pro-life Action League, stated, “It’s sobering to realize that grave markers for the unborn victims of abortion list only a date of burial. They have no birthdays because they were never allowed to be born. We can list no date of death, because those who killed them discarded their bodies like garbage. But they are not garbage to us. They are our brothers and sisters. That’s why we buried them, and that’s why we visit their graves to mourn for them and testify to their humanity.”

Monica Miller, Director of Citizens for a Pro-life Society, stated, “Since 1973, 55 million innocent unborn children have been killed with the sanction of law. A fraction of these victims of the American slaughter have actually been buried. The graves of these victims are scattered across America—graves of sorrow and graves of indictment on a nation that permitted the killing of the innocent. As we visit these graves on September 13, we call upon our nation to remember these victims and bring an end to the injustice of abortion.”

“Abortion is not an abstract issue,” added Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “Having a memorial service where these babies are buried reminds us that abortion is not merely about beliefs, but about bloodshed; not just about viewpoints, but victims. By visiting the graves of the aborted unborn, we allow our hearts be broken for them, and we recommit ourselves to protecting other children from suffering the same fate.”

The first National Day of Remembrance was held last September on the 25th anniversary of the solemn burial of several hundred abortion victims in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Prayer services were held at over 100 locations, with thousands of mourners participating. Response was so great that the National Day of Remembrance has been established as an annual event, to be held on the second Saturday in September.
