Wow, What a Week: Prison Reform, Abortion, Fake News, and Prayer at the White House

Friday, August 31st, 2018

First, #PrisonSeparatesFamilies. #BringOurDadsHome.

Angela Stanton and I just returned from speaking at a prison ministry service in Mississippi to about 200 men. Almost every man in the room was a father, grandfather and some were great-grandfathers. It was such a blessing to be able to bring hope to the lives of those that in a place that presumably doesn’t often offer much hope.

Second, #AbortionSeparatesFamilies. #LetOurChildrenLive.

Abortion activists are at it again. This time it’s The Afiya Center, a black women’s reproductive rights group as reported by The Daily Caller. No matter how much they try to make abortion just another life event like taking out the trash or making your bed, abortion is and will always be something that kills a baby in the womb and hurts women and men and our society as a whole.

Then there’s the news report about some housewives, and what I really said.

When I spoke about the spoof from Cardi B, ‘Housewives of the Civil Rights Movement’ in an interview with TMZ, I said that my Uncle, Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. would have chuckled, not in approval but rather as a knee jerk reaction. He would not have approved of any misrepresentation that paints his wife and other Civil Rights leaders in the culture of today with all the profanity and disrespectful treatment of women that is so commonly seen in today’s media. Not hating on the young ladies in the spoof; just saying.

Finally, prayer which should be the best part of any week; in this case, prayer at the White House with the President, First Lady and many evangelical leaders from around the country.

My week began at a dinner hosted by the President and the First Lady with evangelical leaders to pray for our nation and to encourage prayer in the churches across America. America is becoming great but there is still much to address and the best way to bring that about is through prayer.

We must continue to #PrayForAmerica!

Oh, Omarosa

Monday, August 13th, 2018

This was taken with my phone in the Rose Garden when the Executive Order for Religious Freedom was signed… so sad.

I’ve been praying hard about the Omarosa situation.

I and a colleague had an opportunity to sit down with her at the White House a few months ago. I also had a few moments to chat with her on the President’s Tour of the African American Museum, and had a photo with her in the Rose Garden at the signing of the religious freedom executive order.

At no time, on any of these occasions, did Omarosa express any of the concerns we are hearing about now. To the contrary, it’s such a shame that we live in a society where someone would be comfortable writing and saying things like she is doing for money.

It is sad and so troubling that many have shunned Omarosa for having a long term business relationship as well as a friendship with POTUS to such an extent that she is now so desperate that she’s willing to tell lies for money and to seek the good graces of whoever is willing to buy into these allegations.

It’s so bad to see how far she’s fallen that it’s useless to even say anything negative against her. It is better to wish her the best and hope that as history continues to write itself, we will all learn the truth. It’s undeniable that President Trump has done his best with her and other business associates; putting confidence into them to make opportunities for all to flourish.

As he continues in this presidency we will see more and more of his heart to truly make America great again.

In a perfect world, we would always want to say nice things about people. Since Omarosa and President Trump were supposed to be friends, this is a tough one.

“It is not an enemy who taunts me— I could bear that. It is not my foes who so arrogantly insult me— I could have hidden from them. Instead, it is you—my equal, my colleague and close friend.” Psalms 55:12-13

It’s easy to fight people you don’t know but since they were colleagues and were on a first name basis, this one will require much prayer.

As to the allegations? So what? Where’s the proof? It didn’t seem to bother Omarosa so much when she was cashing the paychecks. No matter the outside pressure; she could have walked away any time. Or she could have been a better friend and pulled him to the side and said so if something was being done that was inappropriate. We can respect people like that.

We can also respect what we know for sure about President Trump. He is keeping his campaign promises. The job market is better for everyone. Unemployment is at an all-time low. Babies and children are safer inside and outside the womb. Justice and prison reform are happening. Prayer is returning to the public square…

My friends, keep praying for America.

Revisiting Prophecy after the Hot Meeting at the White House

Wednesday, August 8th, 2018

Permission granted.

Talk about a long hot summer… Since my recent visit to the White House on August 1, 2018, the heat has been turned up. Being a part of the group present for an update on President Trump’s prison reform agenda has caused a firestorm in many circles, to say the least.

I Timothy 2:1-2 “Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.”>

At the meeting on August 1, the President focused on prison reform and urban initiatives. The session was very encouraging as we received updates on Executive Orders regarding prison reform, the job market and job readiness, aide to foreign nations, life and more… President Trump was very interactive with those around the table. His empowerment agenda is backed by a solid team which includes strong voices in the faith community. As evidenced in his quotes below, President Trump’s position on faith is very clear:

“We will be one people, under one God, saluting one American flag.”

“We will say Merry Christmas again!”

“Our republic was formed on the basis that freedom is not a gift from government. Freedom is a gift from God.”

“Faith is more powerful than government, and nothing is more powerful than God.”

“Across our land, we see the splendor of God’s creation. Throughout our history, we see the story of God’s providence. And in every city and town, we see the Lord’s grace all around us, through a million acts of kindness, courage and generosity. We love God”.

Also, here are some of candidate Donald J. Trump’s campaign promises in 2016. (Note that President Trump has fulfilled most of them.):

• Defend Religious Liberty.
• Represent the unborn.
• Defund Planned Parenthood.
• Appoint conservative jurists to the Supreme Court and federal appeals courts.
• Reinstate the Mexico City Policy (block U.S. federal funds for abortion).
• Rescind the Johnson Amendment.
• Sign the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (2018).
• Move the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem.

While I am among those who genuinely love President Trump and his family, I’d like to encourage everyone, even those who do not, to pray in the manner that the scripture above teaches us.

Prior to 2016, during the presidential elections in America, then candidate Donald J. Trump was compared to King Cyrus in the Bible. This comparison led to a wave of prophetic utterances in the communities of faith. While the Trump/Cyrus connection has been the most popular for those seeking spiritual understanding about the state of our nation and the world, there are other analogies worth observing.

David Lane writes for American Renewal Project about “Rahab, Dagon and Donald Trump”

“President Trump may be equated with Rahab in the Book of Joshua. Although a Canaanite by birth, Rahab stood by faith for the unseen God against a pagan culture. She showed by her actions to be the mouthpiece of God. Francis Schaeffer puts Rahab’s political environment into context: “Surrounding Rahab, however, was a hostile (Deep State) … impregnable, or so its inhabitants thought … surrounded by a monolithic mentality (empowered by) a (pagan) worldview … Rahab was pressured by a powerful city and (profane) culture. … At (that exact) moment she could see nothing with her eyes which (would indicate a) fall.”(2)

“The portion of Evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians who support President Trump do so because he stands firmly against a culture that is increasingly hostile to Biblical Christianity. As one Christian said, ‘I didn’t elect him to be my pastor.’

“The deterioration of a once Biblically-based culture is often cited as the reason that Evangelicals decided to roll the dice with Donald J. Trump in 2016. Having had a year and a half to take his measure, President Trump turns out to be a Samson, willing to do what God’s people have not done. Even Samson’s “parents did not know that this was from the LORD,” on the occasion when Samson was confronting the Philistines.(3)

“Additionally, minority unemployment is at a historical low, the economy is soaring, and ISIS is defeated. There are tax cuts for all. The Courts of Appeals and SCOTUS are being returned to interpreting the law instead of making law, policy, and new rights out of thin air [for example, Obergefell vs Hodges]. Given all this, one particular question still requires an answer from both Democrats and moderate Republicans: “Is the take down of Trump 45 more important than the success of America?”

Success or failure? Which one will we choose? While I’ve often said that I don’t care what people say or think about me, that’s not entirely true. If your hatred for me prevents your being able to receive truth and light, I do care.

“Have I now become your enemy by telling you the truth?” Galatians 4:16

It’s been a week since the meeting at the White House. I’ve been quiet on the networks since then; licking a few wounds I must admit. People have been very supportive or very hateful to those of us who attended the meeting with POTUS. I’m back now, asking for your prayers, and praying for you. God bless you.
