STATEN ISLAND, NY — Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today about the impending canonization of Blessed Pope John Paul II:

“I am delighted that the date has now been officially set for the canonization of Pope John Paul II. When I worked at the Vatican I was privileged to be in many meetings with him, along with other pro-life leaders from around the world. He is a gift to the Church in so many ways, and what we celebrate in a special way at Priests for Life is that he is the Pope of Life. His canonization will strengthen for the Church the significance of the pro-life writings he left us – especially Evangelium Vitae – and of the pro-life initiatives he took.”

Following his appointment in 1997 to the Pontifical Council for the Family, Father Pavone lived and worked in Rome for two years. He still travels frequently to Rome, and is a member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.

The Vatican announced this morning that Blessed Pope John Paul and Blessed Pope John XXIII will be canonized on the same day, April 27, 2014, Divine Mercy Sunday.

Discovering “pockets of happiness” in a “messed up world”

Babies Dedication

Recently I was invited to officiate at a “baby dedication” for three little children. I thought about Pope Francis saying we have to minister to everyone, not just about abortion and gay marriage, but everything. That day was a reflection of what I call “God’s garden.” There were Catholics, Protestants and Jews there. I also met Latin Americans and Germans and African Americans – all lovely human beings.

Of course we all had human issues that day such as profanity, alcohol, drugs, sexual perversions, abortions, sickness and in my case, struggling not to overeat all the delicious foods was just torture. What was wonderful was that we were able to lay all of our burdens aside for a few hours in what I call “discovering a pocket of happiness in a messed-up world.” It was amazing that in the midst of our human condition, we were able to sing, pray and play together without judgments and condemnation. What a blessing!

During the dedication ceremony, which was held inside the home, with seats of honor for the families, we prayed the “salvation prayer,” served “Holy Communion,” sang “The Lord’s prayer,” and anointed the babies in a ritual including oil, water and earth. Gifts were given to the babies, parents, grandparents, godparents and all of the guests.

The families and friends were an ethnic and spiritual blend, reflective of the world today. There were spirited conversations about Christianity, Buddha and universal truth out in the beautiful garden of the home of our hosts in that Latino township in New Jersey. The meal which included a type of Spanish rice and other delights was served inside and outside of the home, and I loved the beautiful colors and flavors infused in the foods, the china, the décor and the overall atmosphere.

Outside, while early autumn butterflies floated among the fall blossoms, the little children jumped and played in the “Bouncy House” (the type of inflatable playhouse that’s so popular these days). The event took place on the birthday of one of the children, so there was pizza and birthday cake and there was a visit from “Elmo” that had the youngest crying and the older children squealing in delight. Many of the younger adults were all excited over plans to go to a party in Atlantic City later that night. Of course the grandparents were just as excited about having the job of babysitting while the parents had a “night out.”

One of the personal highlights for me was when I had a moment of reflective joy because some of the parents at the event had contemplated abortion not long ago, and yet there we all were at a baby dedication lifting up our children to God that day. This was the second baby dedication where I was charged to deliver a spiritual blessing. The first was for some of my own grandchildren. This was to my extended community. I was so honored. I thought about how some of my own children chose life over abortion under a time of social pressure. And I was moved to tears seeing all of these precious babies that day.

English Standard Version
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalms 127:3

At the baby dedication, young adult men and women in their late twenties and thirties were referring to each other as “boyfriend and girlfriend.” Yet, they are not boys and girls. This concept of boyfriend and girlfriend is for childish courtships with no sexual interaction. Mind you, there should be no sexual interaction between people who are not united in Holy Matrimony, but that is a topic for another blog. However, I will say this; when we become adults, we should grow out of childish things.

1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.

At the event, one young man introduced himself like this: “I am her man.” He understood that he was no longer a boy and that he was pursuing a woman, not a girl. I actually have occasion to meet people in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and beyond who are trying to be “boyfriend and girlfriend.” That’s something to blog more about later.

All in all it was a lovely and refreshing occasion. There is still much to be done, teaching morals and values for instance. For example, in his sermon “Rediscovering Lost Values” my Uncle M. L. said we are living in a messed up world.

“I think we have to look much deeper… if we are to find the real cause of man’s problems and the real cause of the world’s ills today. If we are to really find it I think we will have to look in the hearts and souls of men. (Lord help him)

“The trouble isn’t so much that we don’t know enough, but it’s as if we aren’t good enough. The trouble isn’t so much that our scientific genius lags behind, but our moral genius lags behind. (Well) The great problem facing modern man is that. That the means by which we live (Help him God) have outdistanced the spiritual ends for which we live. (That’s right) So we find ourselves caught in a messed-up world. (Well) The problem is with man himself and man’s soul. We haven’t learned how to be just and honest and kind and true and loving. And that is the basis of our problem. The real problem is that through our scientific genius we’ve made of the world a neighborhood, but through our moral and spiritual genius we’ve failed to make of it a brotherhood. (Lord have mercy)” Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. from Rediscovering Lost Values.

Yes, in his sermon Uncle M. L. encouraged us to return to God. That’s a message I’m blessed to deliver. We spent some quality time with God that day. I’m so glad that this family took time out to pray for the babies and for our families.

Dr. Alveda King: Media Lies Belie Duty to Publish Truth About Abortion and Civil Rights

Thursday, September 26th, 2013

Anti-Abortion Activists March In Washington

Staten Island, NY – “If media members print distortions, half-truths, or lies, they are duty bound to print corrections. Associated Press reporter Bob Lewis has printed a lie,” said Dr. Alveda King, director of African American Outreach for Priests for Life. King cited a Washington Post excerpt where AP reported:

“In little-noted LG race, GOP’s voluble and volatile Jackson debates wonky Dem doctor, Northam – By Associated Press
ARLINGTON, Va. — Virginia’s lieutenant governor candidates… clashed over health care, how to care for the dangerously mentally ill and women’s access to reproductive health services…”

King explains: “In his story on the Virginia Lieutenant Governor candidates’ debate, Mr. Lewis printed as fact a false claim [easily fact-checked as false] of one of the candidates. Mr. Lewis’s article states that the “personhood” bill considered by the Virginia legislature last year would have outlawed most forms of abortion in the state. In fact, the bill would have outlawed no abortions in the state.”

A brief Google search would reveal that the personhood bill’s summary declares that any rights granted to an unborn child are “subject only to the laws and Constitutions of Virginia and the United States, precedents of the United States Supreme Court, and provisions to the contrary in the statutes of the Commonwealth.” So the bill is restricted by Roe v. Wade and every subsequent abortion decision by the Supreme Court. In other words, it would prohibit no abortions. Missouri has had almost identical language in its state code for years, language that has been upheld in court and which has barred zero abortions.

“Obviously Mr. Lewis and perhaps millions of Americans don’t understand the concept of “personhood” that upholds the constitutional mantra that all men [people] are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights. Now that the door is open on the discussion of unalienable [civil] rights, let’s demand the basic and intrinsic civil right of life for all persons, born and preborn,” Dr. King insists.

“On the wings of 50th anniversary of The Civil Rights Act enacted July 2, 1964 are the cries of the aborted babies. While the landmark legislation outlawed major forms of racial, ethnic, national, religious, minority, and female discrimination, people in the womb were left out.”

“Mr. Lewis’s misleading story must be corrected immediately – anything less would mean that the Associated Press no longer values the truth” she concluded.

Priests for Life Asks D.C. Federal Court to Halt Enforcement of Obamacare “Contraception Mandate”

Priests for Life

Date: September 22, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The American Freedom Law Center (AFLC) has asked a federal court to halt enforcement of the Obamacare contraceptive services mandate against Priests for Life.

On Sept. 19, AFLC filed a motion for a preliminary injunction in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, asking the court to halt the enforcement of the recently announced regulations. The motion and accompanying memorandum of law are part of AFLC’s federal lawsuit filed last month on behalf of Priests for Life, an international, Catholic organization; Father Frank Pavone, the National Director of Priests for Life; Alveda King, the niece of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. and a pastoral associate and director of African-American Outreach for Priests for Life; and Janet Morana, the executive director of Priests for Life.

The lawsuit challenges the new regulations announced by the Obama administration this past June that allegedly “accommodate” religious objections to the contraceptive services mandate for “eligible organizations.” However, the regulations still require certain non-exempt religious employers, including Priests for Life, to provide insurance plans that promote and facilitate the use of contraceptive services. Priests for Life’s sincerely held religious beliefs prohibit it from providing any support for the use of contraceptive services—the very services mandated by the government as a matter of federal law. The lawsuit and recently filed motion allege that the contraceptive services mandate places a substantial burden on Priests for Life’s sincerely held religious beliefs and the government does not have a compelling reason for doing so in violation of the United States Constitution and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.

Father Pavone expressed Priests for Life’s and his commitment to this fight for religious freedom. “We have been battling the HHS Mandate in court since February of 2012, and as we take this next step, we as an organization — and the plaintiffs in their individual capacities — renew our determination not to accommodate to this injustice. And we are confident that the court will uphold our position.”

According to the motion filed by AFLC, the contraceptive services mandate will apply in full force to Priests for Life’s health care plan on January 1, 2014, thereby necessitating the request for an immediate injunction. Absent an injunction, Priests for Life will be presented with a Hobson’s choice: either drop its health care plan altogether and face the consequences for doing so or refuse to cooperate with the government mandate and be subject to crippling fines of $100 per employee per day.

Robert Muise, co-founder and senior counsel of AFLC, commented: “As a religious organization whose primary mission is to promote the culture of life, Priests for Life has and will continue to suffer irreparable harm from the mandate. The so-called ‘accommodation’ for certain non-exempt religious employers announced by the Obama administration is no such thing. Under these revised regulations, because Priests for Life provides its employees with a health care plan, the mandate forces Priests for Life to provide the means and mechanism by which contraceptive services are provided directly to its plan participants and their beneficiaries, which is unacceptable to Priests for Life because it violates its sincerely held religious beliefs.”

Muise continued, “The use of contraception, sterilization, and abortifacients is prohibited by Priests for Life’s religious convictions. And this is true whether the immoral services are paid for directly, indirectly, or even not at all by Priests for Life. Contraception, sterilization, and abortifacients are immoral regardless of their cost.”

Throughout the process of amending the regulations, the Obama administration has refused to provide a broad exemption from the contraception mandate for religious employers such as Priests for Life, claiming that such an exemption “would lead to more employees having to pay out of pocket for contraceptive services, thus making it less likely that they would use contraceptives, which would undermine the benefits [of requiring the coverage].” According to the government, “Employers that do not primarily employ employees who share the religious tenets of the organization are more likely to employ individuals who have no religious objection to the use of contraceptive services and therefore are more likely to use contraceptives. Including these employers within the scope of the exemption would subject their employees to the religious views of the employer, limiting access to contraceptives, thereby inhibiting the use of contraceptive services and the benefits of preventive care.” Consequently, as the Obama administration has made clear, the ultimate goal of the contraception mandate is to increase the “use of contraceptive services” by compelling access to these services—a goal that is contrary to the very purpose and mission of Priests for Life.

David Yerushalmi, co-founder and senior counsel of AFLC, commented: “There is no doubt that the contraceptive services mandate threatens the very existence of Priests for Life as an effective, pro-life organization. The First Amendment exists to prevent exactly this type of tyrannical overreach by the federal government.”

The lawsuit was filed against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and its Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius; the U.S. Department of the Treasury and its Secretary, Jacob Lew; and the U.S. Department of Labor and its Secretary, Thomas Perez. Each department has a role in enforcing the challenged mandate.

The Greatest Loss of Life Since 9-11?

Wednesday, September 18th, 2013

130917 blog image

My assistant, Eugene Vigil, was listening to news reports this morning. As we were going through our daily brief, he remarked about the news coverage of the Navy Yard shooting in D.C. on Monday. I too had followed the story on television and on the front pages of the newspapers as I was walking through the airport. I’ve asked Eugene to join me in writing this blog today. We’d love to have some feedback from you on Facebook and Twitter.

Reporters are calling the DC Navy Yard shooting yesterday “the greatest loss of life in a single event in DC since 9-11.” An NBC report called it, “one of the deadliest single events ever in the nation’s capital”. I beg to differ.

Monday morning, September 16, Aaron Alexis, 34, of Fort Worth, Texas allegedly opened fire and killed 12 and injured 8 at the DC Navy Yard before he was killed.

Reports on the call for gun control are again flooding in. Every time there is gun violence, people call for gun control. And yes, there should be restrictions on easy access to owning guns. Yet it is going to take more than gun control; it will take heart control to stop the killings, not just an effort of gun control. We must change the hearts of the people who use the guns. Better said, we must pray that God changes the hearts in this nation.” Yes, Monday’s terror was the latest in sprees of violence, man’s inhumanity to man; a terrible incident. Any time life is lost, especially so senselessly, it is a tragedy. I know that those who lost loved ones are mourning and many in our nation are mourning with them and praying for them. We are praying for all the victims and for Alexis and their families.

People are correct to be upset and even outraged at any senseless killing as are we. But our outrage doesn’t stop with Alexis and those he killed and wounded. No, our outrage also extends to all the babies whose lives are being taken every day in DC from abortion. According to data from the Guttmacher Institute, in 2008 there were 4450 abortions in DC (most recent year available). That’s just over 12 dead babies every day, the same number of people killed by Alexis on Monday. Yet, we don’t hear the outcry for these lives. The NBC report stated that the victims ranged in age from 46 to 73. The babies that die from abortion are every bit as human and alive as those killed in the Navy Yard shooting except they are younger; much younger.

On Monday, September 16 at least 24 people lost their lives in DC that day; twelve at the hands of Aaron Alexis and twelve at the hands of abortionists. Yes, I’ll say that again, at least twelve babies that were not shot by Alexis also were killed in acts of abortion.

Yesterday, Tuesday, September 17 at least 12 more people lost their lives at the hands of abortionists. No outcry!

Today, Wednesday, September 18 at least 12 more will lose their lives . . . .

The senseless killing must end. Reporters have been covering the various opinions on how not to repeat senseless killings like those at the Navy Yard; opinions from gun control opponents to those that are encouraging tightening up security. Some suggest that Alexis just snapped and sometimes you can’t do anything to prevent some killings.

As President Obama said, “But if there’s even one thing we can do, if there’s just one life we can save, we’ve got an obligation to try.” Well yes, we must try. The question is will you join us in asking President Obama to stand up for the babies too? We are obligated to demand that the killing of babies by abortion cease. Babies should have civil rights and human rights too!

Killings like those at the Navy Yard may or may not be preventable, but the killing of the babies in the womb is definitely preventable (and we are not talking about harmful chemical and surgical birth control as alternatives either) and we have an obligation to respect the lives of all human persons regardless of their age, ethnicity, size or location.

With the call for Gun Control from those who think this is the best way to stop killings, we again must ask, “Where is Planned Parenthood Control?” And we must also demand a call for “Abortion Tools Control.”

Renewed Priests for Life Pro-Life Training Announced

Priests for Life

Date: September 9, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

Presentations include Archdiocese of Chicago, EWTN, and the Vatican

This week and next, Priests for Life is announcing new efforts in the pro-life education of the clergy and laity. Building on the work of the last two decades, Priests for Life will present renewed initiatives to train people how to live out their commitment to protecting human life. “The pro-life effort is not simply a cause, a movement, or a political position,” explained Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. “All that has its place. But pro-life is, at its core, a spirituality. The Gospels and the teachings of the Church not only teach us why we are pro-life; they teach us how to live it. There are specific virtues we need, and these virtues shape pro-life activity and strategy.”

Priests for Life just produced new programs for EWTN which reflect this spirituality, and this week Fr. Frank will present it, at the invitation of the Vatican, to a conference of jurists sponsored by the Pontifical Council for the Family. Then, at the end of the week, Fr. Frank will again present this approach in Chicago.

The Archdiocese of Chicago’s Respect Life Office, with the blessing of His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., has invited Fr. Frank to lead a special leadership retreat for Parish Respect Life Coordinators to help them spiritually and mentally prepare for Respect Life Month and another great year of pro-life parish ministry.

“Several years ago, I went to a pro-life retreat that was led by Fr. Frank, and since then, I have wanted to provide this type of experience to all of our Parish Respect Life Coordinators” said Margie Breen, Director of the Respect Life Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

“I first came to know of Fr. Frank Pavone and Priests for Life from Father’s appearances on several different EWTN shows. First, it was Father asking people to view the horrible abortion pictures on his Priests for Life website that got me involved in the pro-life movement. Second, I credit Father for my full time pro-life ministry. It was during one of his EWTN homilies that he asked people to leave their current full time work and find ways to work full time in the pro-life movement. I stepped out in faith, and God opened the doors to my current ministry as Respect Life Office Director. The road hasn’t been easy, but it never is when you are working to fight one of the worst injustices of our time. I am grateful to Father Frank and Priests for Life for their important ministry!,” Margie concluded.

Fr. Frank explained, “This retreat will be designed to impart the pro-life spirituality on which we have trained activists around the world for years. It is a spirituality based on the teaching, life and example of three pro-life icons whom I was privileged to know personally and who shaped profoundly my own vocation to pro-life activism: Blessed John Paul II, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, and Cardinal John O’Connor, who ordained me to the priesthood and gave me permission to devote myself fulltime to the defense of the unborn.”

Fr. Frank added, “From its inception, Priests for Life has had a close and fruitful relationship with the Archdiocese of Chicago. When Cardinal O’Connor released me to be the first full-time director of the organization, Cardinal Bernardin of Chicago permitted Fr. Jim Heyd to be the Associate Director. Cardinal George later permitted Fr. Heyd to work with us full-time. On many occasions over the years, the Archdiocese and its parishes have welcomed Priests for Life. Now, with the exemplary work of Margie Breen, and under the inspiring leadership of Cardinal George, the Archdiocese continues to advance the pro-life cause, and I am honored to assist in that effort.”

To hear some of Fr. Frank’s training seminars in pro-life spirituality, Stay tuned to for more announcements about these efforts.

Exclusive Interview with Preachers of LA

Thursday, September 12th, 2013

130912 blog image

Alveda: “We’re talking with Bishop and First Lady Ron Gibson and you’re getting this first from the blog of Alveda King because I’m sitting here with them.

“Now, I want to know why they have agreed to appear on Preachers of LA.

“You’ve heard a lot of controversial information about a lot of criticisms but I’m telling you, I’m sitting here with members of that show, preachers of the Gospel, husbands and wives, and they have a reason for using this avenue.

“I just want to know, Pastor and First Lady, do you believe God is going to use this medium to help you reach souls?”

Pastor Gibson: “I know He’s going to use this medium to reach souls. We’ve come to the Kingdom for such a time as this. God has anointed us, appointed us, now he’s launching us out into the deep to win the lost through the power of Pentecost, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So I know it’s not accidental but it’s providential. It’s that time because time is winding up and people are dying without the hope of salvation. And God has prepared us for such a time as this.”

Alveda: “First Lady Gibson?”

First Lady Gibson: “There’s no doubt about it that this is a God assignment and it’s a God moment and I am honored that the Lord selected my husband first and I’m just assisting in any way that I can in this. He has trusted him with this opportunity to really speak to the society of today about issues today, Christian family life today, and getting the Gospel to people that may never watch Christian television. They may never turn on a Christian television station on but they might be watching Bad Girls on Oxygen. Hopefully right after that will be the Preachers of LA and they’re going to be ministered to, they’re going to be blessed because these preachers are opening up their lives and they’re sharing real life things that they go through and I think they’ll relate and they’ll be ministered to as they watch the journey through their lives.”

Alveda: “Thank you. And First Lady and I also attended Spellman together; you just might want to hear that. And now we’re going to the bold and daring Darlene McCoy who has brought this group together; gave us this wonderful preview. What did you have in mind when you brought this to Atlanta for us come out and join you?”

Darlene McCoy: “I do want to say this, I was taken back in the beginning and everyone knows that I am very vocal on Praise 102.5. I had an opportunity to watch the first episode and I am 100 percent behind this show. This is a show that the Kingdom needs to support. Not only the Kingdom; we’re going to see that the mainstream will support it as well because this is real ministry. And the thing, the key factor is they are lifting up Jesus. Jesus said, ‘If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me.’ And what better way to lift up Jesus among every man than on a network like Oxygen. This is incredible. I’m excited about it. And we’re just going to support it 100 percent.”

Alveda: “Now remember you heard this first from Alveda on my blog. And make sure you get it out in Tweetville, right now. Alveda King, signing off. Thank you!”

Fr. Pavone Calls on Clergy to Pray for Former Abortionists

Wednesday, September 11th, 2013

Priests for Life

Date: September 11, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

NEW YORK, NY– Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today:

“This weekend, in a private retreat, former abortion clinic workers will seek spiritual and psychological healing. Along with several colleagues, I will again be privileged to minister to these individuals, who once made their living by killing children but who now have repented and seek forgiveness.

“I ask my brother priests, and clergy of all denominations, to pray to Christ the Healer in these days, that those who come to seek this healing will have the courage to undertake the arduous task ahead of them. We will assist them to face up with complete honesty to the evil they have done, and at the same time to more deeply perceive the full weight of God’s mercy. These individuals will be asked to remember the number of lives they have taken, and to begin to re-humanize each of these children, claiming responsibility for them, apologizing for each one of them, and commending them to the Lord. They will also pray for the mothers, fathers, and families who have been damaged by the abortion that they provided.

“Many years ago, Dr. Philip Ney developed the Society of Centurions for former abortionists and their staff who repent of killing the innocent, just as did the Roman Centurion at Jesus’ crucifixion. At various times and in various locations around the world, Dr. Ney conducts Centurion gatherings, leading men and women through an intensive process of healing. The work I will do this weekend is based on the insights and research Dr. Ney provides. We look forward to preparing many men and women to take advantage of the powerful encounter that these meetings with Dr. Ney provide.

“As he has pointed out, the better we can understand why a person becomes an abortionist, and then how a person comes to leave that dark industry, the better we can understand how our whole society has gotten enmeshed in the culture of abortion, and how it can again become free.”

Dragging their lies behind them…

Tuesday, September 10th, 2013

130910 blog image

“What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies, who drag wickedness behind them like a cart!” Isaiah 5:18 (NLT)

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep, And can’t tell where to find them; Leave them alone,
And they’ll come home, Dragging their tails (tales) behind them. “Little Bo-Peep”

Somehow this scripture and the nursery rhyme I learned when I was a little girl keep running into each other in my spirit. The sheep are the lost souls who are thirsty for truth; yet instead of meeting Jesus, the Good Shepherd, they are being deceived by wolves in sheep’s clothing. Not only has Bo-Peep lost her sheep, The Church (every denomination included) has lost God’s Sheep.

Of course there is a major difference between the Bible and Nursery Rhymes. The Bible is the Word of God. Nursery Rhymes are friendly little human inspired teaching tools often connected to fable and conjecture. The Bible has eternal power to liberate us from our fears and problems. Nursery rhymes are not nearly that reliable. For example, while Bo-Peep knows that the sheep are lost and we do too; unlike Bo-Peep, we know where to find the lost sheep – the least of these. It’s just that too many of us are caught up in concerns about material gains, what we are going to eat, where we are going to sleep, political idolatry (masquerading as political correctness and worshipping the created U. S. Constitution rather than our God who created it) and all other types of things that we are too busy to open our eyes and see the sheep and feed the sheep the Good News!

What got me started on this train of writing is that Isaiah recognized that people are dragging lies along and deceiving the people, and the sheep in Bo-Peep’s song are out there dragging their tales of woe without discovering solutions to their problems. It is very obvious therefore that the human solutions, the suggestion that we should just leave the sheep alone, or file some more law suits and pass some more bills will all work out and the sheep will find their way back to sanity.

This is exactly what we have been doing for the past 50 years since The March on Washington and the I HAVE A DREAM speech. We have allowed something (the sower of discord actually) to confuse the global awareness of the connection of God to everything, and drink from the sewer of so called “separation of church and state.” We have allowed the sin of racism to continue (failing to humbly admit that we are not separate races, but one human blood/race as stated in Acts 17:26), we have allowed prayer to be banned from schools, babies to be aborted by the millions, natural marriage and family to be ridiculed, and all too many of us remain silent and fearful of losing the favor of other humans.

While many of us continue to secretly meet our spiritual obligations to pray for all those in authority (and even those who wish to be) behind closed doors, we are still silent in the public square and at the voting booths. We must remember that we cannot turn away from our civic duty to vote for and elect God fearing leaders. It would be foolish to come off the wall and to turn away from these responsibilities. If we have abandoned these duties, I am urging us to reprioritize our thinking, our actions and yes, our praying.

I was with Larry and Doris Tomczak of recently. God breathed on His assignment to us to “awaken the people to truth.” Using my 3 Headed Monster Chart, we discussed the connection among racism, reproductive genocide and sexual perversion. All three human states of rebellion defy God’s loving desire for a family and God’s command to “be fruitful and multiply.”

The racist basically says this: “I might (not I will) be fruitful and multiply… I might have sex with the opposite sex and make babies, but only on my terms. If the sexual partner doesn’t look like me, have the same skin color and other qualifying factors, then no – I will not be fruitful and multiply. I will not agree with and accept that we are to be brothers and sisters, that we are one human blood/race.” (Acts 17:26)

The reproductive genocide mindset says this: “I may or may not have sex or use artificial means for the purpose of conceiving children. I will not accept that the initial design for human sexuality has always been for procreation. I will do as I wish. It is my life, my egg or my sperm. It is my body. I will take surgical and chemical means to have my way, even if it hurts babies, women and families and society at large. If I am a woman and become pregnant, I will believe the lies of abortion minded facilitators and abort the babies. I will risk breast cancer, cervical cancer, strokes, heart attacks and other hidden dangers to stand for the right to choose death over life.” The solution? Choose Life. (Deuteronomy 30:19)

The sexual perversion camp pretty much says: “I will do whatever feels good no matter the consequences to myself or others. I was born this way, and so God must want me this way. I do not want to know that God made a way for me to conform with God’s plan for procreation – that I can be Born Again. I would rather believe the lie that God creates sickness, disease and sexual perversion. I’m not sure that I even want to know who did create all of the problems in the world.” What many do not understand is that all human beings are born into sin. (Psalms 51:5) Too many people don’t believe this, that’s why sickness, disease, adultery, fornication, homosexuality, child molestation and abuse, rape, incest, pornography and other even darker human conditions are all connected to this link in the tail (tale) that is being dragged along behind all too many deceptions. The solution? Born into the Human Condition? Be born again. (John 3:7)

All too many accept evil as good and good as evil. For instance, dragging their lies and deceptions along, Planned Parenthood doles out death and tries to sell the package in a glittering lie called “family planning.” Sounds like what the snake did to Eve thousands of years ago. He told her that if she ate the forbidden, she would not die. Well, she died, just like millions of aborted babies and hundreds of their mothers died from abortions. Parents ate the forbidden lies of the abortionists, and millions have died, sadly legally since 1973. And yet, people invite PPH to their churches and rallies and accept their free condoms, tainted “grant monies (many of which are obtained from our tax dollars) and all of the other trappings that promise happiness and bring sadness.

As I point out the obvious, that there are wolves when we need good shepherds, please don’t be discouraged. We are actually winning this battle. In the ongoing commitment to encourage and equip you, I want to recommend a new book by a new friend Dr. Penny Smith: The Second Woman Bible Study: Healing from Intimate Partner Violence and Post-Abortion Grief

Finally, as we move away from the long hot summer towards Thanksgiving and Christmas, and next year towards the March for Life, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, Black History Month and yes, the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Acts, we can see that we have a lot ahead of us. I’m praying that we will not be like Bo-Peep and say we don’t know how to find the lost sheep – the sheep like Miley Cyrus who seems not to be aware of and understand the beauty and preciousness of her sexuality; like NBA “power couple” Udonis Haslem and Faith Rein who announced their abortion at their wedding; like all of the precious young people who are chanting against God at rallies these days – yes, like all of the millions who are lost in darkness and need to see the bright light of Agape Love and hope. The truth is this. If we leave them alone, they can’t come home. They’ll just keep dragging their tales behind them. Please pray with me and wake up before the dream really becomes a nightmare!
