Life’s Perspectives from Daddy King

Wednesday, July 31st, 2013

(Please view video MY SHOES at the end.)

130731 blog image

My grandfather Dr. Martin Luther King, Sr. once told my then abortion minded pregnant mother this: “Neenie (her nickname), you can’t abort this baby. She’s a little girl with bright skin and bright red hair. I saw her in a dream three years ago, and she’s going to bless many people. What a prophetic miracle. That dream saved my life long before ultrasound was invented!

When I was born on January 22, 1951 my joyful daddy, Rev. Alfred Daniel Williams King named me Alveda Celeste King. He once told me the Al was part of his name because I am “part of him.” (23 of 46 chromosomes in fact)

The French and Italian word for life is Vitae. So he combined the two to name Alveda. Celeste came from my great-grandmother Jennie Celeste Parks. Daddy said it sounded celestial and he wanted to get me as close to Heaven as possible.

As time went on, what with bombings and shootings and killings and other terrors, in the midst of trying and troubling times in the “King Family Legacy,” Granddaddy used to preach about thanking God for what we have left. He had a special saying: “I used to cry because I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet.”

Often when I remember these cherished moments in my life, someone says or does something to remind me of other special memories about them. Today my very good friend sent me a link to a special film project: MY SHOES. It reminds me of Granddaddy’s sermon.

Please view this short film and remember that sometimes when life seems hard, we should consider and reconsider the perspectives before we make our choices.

Martin/Zimmerman Dilemma: Would MLK Boycott?

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

130730 blog image

In light of all of the discussions occurring now about boycotting the state of Florida because of the unrest over the Martin/Zimmerman verdict, I believe that certainly it is appropriate to express, in a peaceful and non-violent manner, the concerns that are being raised.

In regards to the 1960s, people are asking me would this Florida boycott have been an appropriate target back then? Certainly in the 20th Century, boycotts were the order of that day, so possibly yes, that could have happened back then. Of course cannot say whether Martin Luther King, Jr. would have led such a march since he’s not here, but according to his own words, we can believe that he would have opposed stereotyping and profiling. Yet we can also believe he would be calling for peaceful nonviolent resolution as well as reconciliation of the one human race.

We who engage in nonviolent direct action are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive.
— “Letter from Birmingham Jail,” April 16, 1963

I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. This is why right temporarily defeated is stronger than evil triumphant.
— Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech,

Along these lines there is a movement that is occurring at the same time as the Florida boycott and that is the reconciliation rallies led by people of good will of every ethnic group rising up in Florida at this time.

Charisma Magazine’s Steve Strang one of the organizers of the Restoration Meetings had this to say in a recent column:

“The George Zimmerman acquittal a week ago has brought to the surface racial divides in our country, and it’s time for believers in Jesus to get involved because the best answers are spiritual, available to us through fervent prayer. There must be forgiveness, and mercy always triumphs over justice.”

The organizers are planning on taking those reconciliation rallies across the country saying, pretty much, that mercy overrides human judgment.

We know that the judgment that acquitted George Zimmerman was man’s judgment based on man’s law, the stand your ground law. Admittedly, there are some problems with that law. However, God’s justice does contain mercy. We are required to do justice, love mercy, and to walk upright and humbly before God.

So I’m asking that there be a reconciliation message for Florida and for the country that we must reconcile as one blood, one human race. Truly we are one human race, and indeed we can be brothers and sisters and not combat and fight each other and kill each other.

We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.
— MLK Speech in St. Louis, Missouri, March 22, 1964

This nation needs healing. It needs a message of reconciliation. As a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I am appealing to all concerned to please consider reconciliation as a major part of the message that must be delivered.

Now, does there need to be justice for Trayvon? I happen to believe there should be. What form will that justice take? The answer has yet to be revealed.

I was truly saddened to hear that some have besmirched the memory of Trayvon by relegating him to the category of being labeled a thug with the implication that he deserved to be dead. Our children have a right to be born, to dream and to see their dreams come true. When they get off track, they should be firmly yet lovingly corrected. If we teach them and love them, they can live and not die!

This is a very tragic situation. Trayvon’s dreams went to his grave with him. I’m praying that God will have the final word on all of this.

I’m praying for the Martins. I’m praying for the Zimmermans. I’m praying for all concerned.

Reconciliation is in order!

Many celebrity protestors are quietly pro-life. It would be good if they would speak to sanctity of life from conception till natural death in their efforts. Finally, in every conflict let us strongly urge repentance, forgiveness and Reconciliation over Boycotts.

Just in case you haven’t heard any celebrity prolife messages, check out Nick Cannon, Fred Hammond and Flipsyde.

Life Dynamics Applauds Decision to Compensate Victims of Secret Eugenics Program!

Today, Life Dynamics Inc., a national pro-life organization located in Denton, Texas applauds the decision by North Carolina lawmakers to allocate $10 million to compensate victims who were forcefully sterilized under the state’s secret eugenics program.

From 1929 to 1974, North Carolina forcibly sterilized thousands of people who were deemed to be mentally handicapped, promiscuous or unfit to have children. Life Dynamics has documented the history of the American Eugenics Society including North Carolina’s forced sterilization program in our film, Maafa21: Black Genocide in 21st Century America.

The term eugenics was coined in the mid 1800’s by Francis Galton, the cousin of Charles Darwin. Galton believed in trying to increase those he felt were superior in stock and decrease those he felt were inferior. This ideology still exists today in organizations that promote population control and abortion.

The idea of forced eugenics was not something that suddenly developed in the 1970s. In 1907, Indiana had become the first of more than 30 states to pass sterilization laws and some of those laws stayed on the books well into the 1970s. In fact, the State of Oregon did its last sterilization in 1981 and did not abolish its eugenics board until October of 1983.

There were some within the eugenics movement who were uncomfortable with the idea of using force and they would express their reservations about it in public. But when pressed, virtually none of them would rule it out – including Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger.

Margaret Sanger advocated sterilization of the so-called unfit, in 1950 in a personal letter she wrote to Katharine Dexter McCormick, an heir to the International Harvester fortune who used her immense wealth to fund the development of the birth-control pill. Sanger wrote, “I consider that the world and almost our civilization for the next twenty-five years, is going to depend upon a simple, cheap, safe contraceptive to be used in poverty stricken slums, jungles, and among the most ignorant people. Even this will not be sufficient, because I believe that now, immediately; there should be national sterilization for certain dysgenic types of our population who are being encouraged to breed and would die out were the government not feeding them.”

Sanger’s connections to eugenics was nothing new. She had long praised their ideologies and published several articles on the topic in her Birth Control Review. In 1935, Sanger’s American Birth Control League published a resolution to unite with the American Eugenics Society.

Flipping the “Freedom Rides” Concept on Its Head

Friday, July 26th, 2013

<pro-life freedom bus

On July 12, 2013 I blogged about the ‘Abortion Rights Freedom Rides’ the Pro-Abortion Movement is having which began Tuesday, July 23 in New York and San Francisco.

Let me explain why I chose the title I did. Remember we’ve been looking at a three headed monster? Well the so called abortion “freedom” rides are linked to that monster.

The Freedom Rides of 1961 were held to fight for the rights of Black Americans. Those rights, the right to be free of discrimination, which were being denied, if given, would not infringe on the rights of other citizens.

In 2010 Priests for Life held the Pro-Life Freedom Rides to fight for the rights of the unborn. Those rights, the right to life, which are being denied, if given, would not infringe on the rights of other citizens.

But the ‘Abortion Rights Freedom Rides’ are being held to protect rights which are infringing on the rights of other Americans, the unborn. The exact opposite if the Freedom Rides and the Pro-Life Freedom Rides.

In the 20th century Freedom Rides, the ones whose rights were being denied had done nothing in order to be in the situation they were in. They were African Americans who were expressing the desire to be treated as equal human beings, not second class citizens. They wanted their rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

In the Pro-Life Freedom Rides, the ones whose rights are being denied also did nothing in order to be in the situation in which they found themselves in, which of course is the womb of their mothers with the threat of abortion and imminent death looming over them.

In contrast, the ‘Abortion Rights Freedom Rides,’ the ones whose rights are supposedly being denied are in the situation that they are in because of choices they are making regarding aborting the human beings in their wombs. Whether or not the situation that caused the state of pregnancy involved consent or coercion or force, a pregnancy brings yet another human into the picture; a person in a womb which modern ultrasound technology affirms is a person.

Some fighting for abortion rights are doing so because they are profiting from abortion and they don’t want their income to go away. Those in this category are very dishonest to the women they are pretending to “protect” because they don’t even fully disclose all of the harmful effects of abortion – not to the child, but – to the mother. Abortion and related products and procedures that seek to prevent a woman from birthing a live baby are often very harmful to the bodies and souls of the mothers. Abortion and invasive birth control methods are often linked to breast cancer and other forms of cancer and disorders. Contrary to lies of the pro-abortion industry, pregnancy is not a sickness or a disease.

One of the most frustrating things for me in my pro-life work is that people think that they have the right to have sex without the consequences of the outcome; hence abortion, the Pro-Choice movement, and now the Bro-Choice movement. The actual purpose of sex is to cause a man and a woman to procreate, to get pregnant and birth a baby. So why isn’t the ProChoice community admitting this? The agenda of the ProChoice Movement is to promote hyper-sexed activity for a profit.

One of the biggest culprits pushing this mentality is Planned Parenthood and why wouldn’t they? They have much to gain from this type of behavior. Even as I prepare this blog, Planned Parenthood is in your local schools instructing your children to experiment with sex, with many sexual partners and with same sex partners. Under the guise of protection, they distribute contraceptives, many time free of charge, knowing that there is always a percentage that will conceive children and the users of their products will soon be seeking their services.

As I am writing this I feel like I’m comparing good vs. evil; one being the opposite of the other.

I believe that many agree that the 20th Century Freedom Rides and fighting for civil rights was a just cause. Logic should lead us to conclude that the ProLife Freedom Rides were for justice as well. Based upon conclusive evidence that abortion kills babies, and harms and sometimes kills mothers, we should logically conclude that rides to promote abortion and harmful contraceptives are not good. So do we want to ride for good justice or for evil? I’ll let you draw your own conclusions regarding the what a good freedom ride is, and what is not.

Fr. Pavone Presides over Funeral Service for Aborted Baby at National Event in Rochester

Priests for Life

Date: July 25, 2013

Contact: Leslie Palma

ROCHESTER, NY – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, is presiding here this morning over a memorial service for an aborted baby. Joining pro-life leaders from around the nation associated with Operation Save America, Fr. Pavone will preach at the service this morning. His message, in part, will be as follows:

“We are holding this service in full view of the public. We are not ashamed of our youngest brothers and sisters, who continue to be brutalized by abortion. We are committed to showing the world the violent atrocity of abortion.

“Here in New York, we are committed to showing this atrocity to Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who seems to want more abortion, not less. We are grateful that his recent effort to expand abortion in New York was stopped. But that is not enough. We call on him to admit what abortion is and to call for an end to this violence against the youngest children. We need public servants who can tell the difference between serving the public and killing the public.”

The child being buried was killed at about 14 weeks of development by prostaglandin abortion, which induces violent contractions. On the intact body can be seen the black bruises caused by these contractions. Participants in the service will be able to view the baby as they pray.

Fr. Pavone said, “Participating in a funeral for an aborted child is one of the most powerful ways to connect with the reality of these children, and the reality of abortion that killed them. That is why, on September 14, we will co-sponsor a national event in which memorial services will be held simultaneously at about 30 sites nationwide where aborted children are buried. See for details.”

New season of “Defending Life” debuts July 31 on EWTN

Wednesday, July 24th, 2013

Priests for Life

July 24, 2013

Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, has announced that an exciting new season of “Defending Life” featuring dynamic guests and provocative topics will begin airing July 31 on EWTN.

Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life, and Father Scott Daniels, O.P., a Priest Associate of the ministry, will co-host this 23rd Season, which will air at 2:30 a.m. Wednesdays and 11 p.m. Thursdays. Additional broadcast times and other information is at DefendingLife.TV.

Defending Life is the longest-running and farthest-reaching series on abortion ever produced by either side of the abortion debate. It airs on the world’s largest religious media outlet. Fr. Frank Pavone began taping it in 1994 at the personal invitation of EWTN Foundress Mother Angelica.

In one episode, Mrs. Morana and Father Daniels will take an unflinching look at D&E abortion, the dismemberment procedure most often performed in the second trimester of pregnancy. This topic is particularly relevant today as more states pass laws to protect children from abortion after 20 weeks of development.

Another episode focuses on Mrs. Morana’s new book, “Recall Abortion,” and the double meaning of the word “recall” as in “remember” and as in removing a harmful product from the market.

And in a third episode, you will hear Naomi Barber King, sister-in-law of Martin Luther King Jr. , make history as she declares in Washington, DC that the “Beloved Community” includes the unborn child!

Other guests in this season include Peggy Hartshorn, president of Heartbeat International; Charmaine Yoest, president and CEO of Americans United for Life; Jeanneane Maxon, former general counsel for Carenet, and Victoria Hearst, granddaughter of media magnate William Randolph Hearst, who will discuss her transition from pro-choice to pro-life. Monsignor Philip Reilly, founder of the Helpers of God’s Precious Infants, will talk about his ministry, and David Rosa, a post-abortive dad, will discuss a powerful new movement to acknowledge the regret men feel for involvement in abortion.

“We are very excited about this season,” said Mrs. Morana, who is also the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign and co-host of EWTN’s “The Catholic View for Women.” “Viewers will learn more about topics in the forefront of today’s pro-life movement. They will gain powerful talking points and a clearer understanding that abortion is the real war against women,” she said.

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said each season is designed to provide a realistic look at the many dimensions of the tragedy of abortion, and the progress the pro-life movement is making to counteract it.

“Our goal is to energize and empower every viewer to go out and redouble their efforts on behalf of the unborn,” Father Pavone said. “We are winning this fight!”

My reaction to Bill O’Reilly’s comments on race problem on America Live

I can’t believe I am agreeing with President Obama and Bill O’Reilly on the same blog but in this situation they both said something I agree with.

For the record, while I don’t agree with many of President Obama’s policies, such as his support of rabid Planned Parenthood, I do agree that it is past time for the “racism conversation.” On the other hand, although I also don’t always agree with everything that Mr. O’Reilly says, I do agree that we need to strengthen the American family which also includes the African American family.

Of course the conversation regarding racism needs to include dialogue that we are all one race, one human race, created of one blood. (see Acts 17:26) My famous uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said “we must learn to live together as brothers (and sisters) or perish as fools.” If we are one race with varying ethnic distinctions, then we can stop fighting and exercise brotherly and sisterly, “humanly” love.

We also need to understand that racism stems from hatred, not love. Racism is evil personified. We must work hard to overcome evil with good. God is love and God is good, so we can overcome racism with agape love. We must pray now for transformation of human hearts and replace the hatred with the love of Christ. Again, God is Love.

Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8 (NIV)

So, we need to bring people closer to God if we are to minimize racism.

As for strengthening the African American family and indeed the human family, we as parents, yes parents, plural, need to teach our children and grandchildren how to live moral, righteous lives. Of course parents, men and women, mothers and fathers are created equal but are assigned different life roles. So as parents, each has a role to play in the raising of our children. Statistics have shown that children raised in single-parent households have a higher poverty rate, more criminal behavior, higher unemployment, higher school dropout rate. This is why the sanctity of life and the sanctity of natural marriage are both so very important and interrelated.

Each parent, the mother or father, has different things to teach their children. Things that are important for the well-being of the children.

Does that mean that there aren’t times when single-parent households will occur? No, sometimes they occur due to death, or spousal abuse, or lack of moral instruction or understanding, or a number of other reasons. Yet they should not occur so frequently that they become the norm.

“Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” ESV 2001

Please allow me to share a story from Naturally Moi of a child star who has shared an inspiring testimony that can serve as a roadmap for our young women.

In the midst of all of the controversy regarding Trayvon Martin, the Texas sanctity of life battle, and so many other boiler point issues, it is so very refreshing to hear this testimony from one of my favorite television childhood personalities.

Tamera Mowry-Housley who once starred in the popular Sister Sister TV series with her twin sister Tia but recently surprised her co-stars and fans by revealing she has only had sex with one person in her life.
Mowry recently told her The Real panel members that she didn’t lose her virginity six years ago when she was 29-years-old.

“I don’t know how to explain this. I’m religious, so I waited until I was 29 to lose my virginity,” she insisted.

She also explained that she regretted losing her virginity before marriage so much that she decided to wait until she married three years later to engage in sexual intercourse again.

“You may not understand this but I did it (had sex). Then I became celibate until I got married.”
In 2011, Tamera married Fox News Correspondent Adam Housley after they had dated for almost six years.

Before Housley, the Sister Sister star dated Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane.

Last November, Mowry and Adam had their first son, Aden.

While Tamera considers herself to be religious and conservative, she says that she’s “far from boring in the bedroom.”

Tamera’s perspective is one that far too many young people are missing these days, saving exciting sex for the marriage bed. Such a plan could lead to far less heartbreak, STDS and abortions.

Hispanic Pro-Life Coalition Supports Texas Law to Limit Abortions (English/Espaňol)

Hispanic Pro-Life Coalition

For Immediate Release
Contact: Fr. Victor Salomon, 202-380-6123

“For decades, Texas has allowed abortion centers to specialize in late-term abortions targeting our African American and Hispanic communities. This signature curbs the genocide but there is still much to be done,” stated Fr. Victor Salomon, director of Hispanic Outreach for Priests for Life.

“Hispanics for Life applauds the decision by Texan legislators to limit abortions. We hope it is a step toward the day when all unborn human beings are protected and women are spared the exploitation by the abortion industry,” affirmed Astrid Bennett Gutierrez, President of Hispanics for Life.

Kristina Garza, director of Campus Outreach for Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, issued the following statement: “The 20-week abortion ban is common sense legislation. Not only have women, especially minority women, been preyed upon by unscrupulous abortionists who have operated with no oversight whatsoever, but their babies have been mercilessly tortured to death for far too long. Finally, Texas has taken the first step in protecting women and babies. I hope that Texas becomes the example for the rest of the nation and that we will all encourage our pro-life legislators to act with the same courage that Governor Perry and the Texas legislature has.”

Comunicado de Prensa
Contact: Fr. Victor Salomon, 202-380-6123

NBPC Releases New Information On the Death of Tonya Reaves

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

Today, at 10:00 am ET, the National Black Pro-Life Coalition along with other Pro-Life groups held a press conference to bring attention to the death of Tonya Reaves, the 24 year old woman who was killed at a Planned Parenthood abortion mill in Chicago last year.

Here is some other information that was released in conjunction with the press conference.

Mandy Gittler is the name of the late-term abortionist, who commits late-term abortions at ALL WOMEN’S HEALTH, and who killed Tonya Reaves at Planned Parenthood on 18 South Michigan Avenue.

This location, by the way, according to Planned Parenthood only performs medication abortions. The locations at 1200 N. LaSalle St and 3051 E. New York St. are the only ones indicated as committing surgical abortions (from 6 weeks to 17 weeks and 6 days). Please see Wrongful Death Lawsuit naming abortionist Mandy Gittler as the defendant.

Abortionist, Mandy Gittler, is a late-term abortionist (like many around the country) that travels from mill to mill and state to state, to commit their heinous acts of murder.

Planned Parenthood of Illinois (which runs the Loop Health Center on 18 South Michigan Avenue) was also responsible for the 2008 botched abortion death of a woman, and another they never reported: the wife of Maurice Stevenson.

By the way, this great OpEd by Dennis Byrne refers to a 1978 Undercover Investigation (see attached copies of the old news article) that show the Gosnell-like conditions that existed in abortion mills across the state and 12 women killed (unknown by the state) at the hands of these post-Roe “back-alley” abortionists. Today, the Illinois Department of Health, does not inspect Planned Parenthood-owned clinics, according to journalist Dennis Byrne.
