African American Outreach Prayer

ABBA Father, dear Creator God,
In your Word you command us to pray
For all who serve you in public office,
That we may lead peaceful lives.
We intercede for those in the offices of
President of the United States,
In the Congressional Black Caucus,
And in federal, state, county and local offices.
We ask for a new outpouring of your Spirit,
The Spirit of truth and life,
The Spirit of repentance and conversion,
The Spirit of courage and grace;
Let peace and love abound,
For ourselves and for those holding political offices.
May we be instruments of Your Holy Spirit
And witnesses of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In which alone we find hope for our nation and the world.
We ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Dr. Alveda King cited in Urban Faith article

‘Pray and Act Accordingly’ by Alveda C. King
The church can turn the tide in the current political debates. God is neither Democrat nor Republican; God is sovereign. The first and final acts of people of faith should be to pray and act accordingly. As to the current health-care debate, we must encourage the President and leaders of our nation to remember the dignity of all Americans. Click here to read the entire article

Black prolife leaders inform and educate during Congressional Black Caucus week

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Washington, DC  On the heels of a successful Define the Dream: America’s Health Care Agenda crusade during the Congressional Black Caucus week of events, Prolife African American Leaders are now seeking to engage COGIC (Church of God in Christ) in positive dialogue regarding COGIC’s endorsement of President Obama’s Health Care Bill.

Dr. Johnny Hunter of LEARN has released an open letter to COGIC urging caution for their endorsement of President Obama’s health care bill.

Some of the leaders, organized by Pastor Stephen Broden of Fairpark Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas, have also issued statements regarding pressing concerns over COGIC’s endorsement, which does not include strong prolife sanctions, even though many of the COGOC leaders say that they are prolife.

The Prolife African American Leaders are working to get the informative genocide expose, Maafa21 into the hands of COGIC and other church leaders across the country as part of their national education campaign. As the campaign continues, the leaders urge people to see Maafa21 and share the film with members of their communities.

“We hope to engage COGIC and other church leaders in meaningful, informative dialogue as the health care debate continues,” said Dr. Alveda King of Priests for Life, who is working with Rev. Arnold Culbreath of Protecting Black Life to contact leaders of COGIC.

Food for thought…

Monday, September 28th, 2009

Hello Friends, in the middle of the prolife war, don’t we still have to eat? Our families and friends sometimes get caught up in the melee. Sometimes, don’t we just need to do something regular (and special at the same time) for them and for ourselves? So I’m starting this e-letter with a recipe, of all things!

Want to  impress and bless in just a few minutes? I got this idea from Publix, and added my loving touch. Met a new friend Tom who did the same with the chicken for his family. This helps reconnect with family and friends after days on the road.

Alveda’s Blackberry (or raspberry, blueberry, pear or your own inspired flavor!) Chicken Dinner

About 15 minutes to prepare!

Shopping List

Rotisserie Chicken ( one for four, two for eight, etc.)

Jar of Fruit Jam

Fresh berries or fruit

Lemon or Lime (juice or fruit)

Pre-mashed potatoes in meals to go section of the store (flavored or not)

Steam fresh Broccoli

Jar of Horseradish

Fresh or jar of chopped garlic

Prepare Chicken

Split chicken in half, put ½ cup of water in a large covered pan with 1/8 cup of lemon or lime juice, and 1 tbs. of butter. Put the chicken on top of all of that and cover it up on medium to heat through for 10 minutes.

Prepare Potatoes

Open mashed potatoes at the corner of the container, and microwave for 7 minutes on high.  Then, add butter, horseradish and garlic to potatoes and cook for another 3 minutes.

Finish Chicken

While the potatoes are finishing, add ½ cup (or more to taste) of jam to juices in the pan with the chicken. Allow it to melt, continue warming everything in the pan.

Prepare Veggie

Take the potatoes out and put in the bag of steamed fresh broccoli.  (or something else)

Bing! 15-20 minutes, everything is done. Serve with a pretty beverage, bread, and desserts such as a scoop of sorbet or ice cream, Boston Crème Pie, rice pudding or whatever you like.

More and more women are revealing why they make certain choices…

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Enter Beyonce with “if you like it put a ring on it…” These words are proof positive that women are becoming more aware of the value of their sexuality, and where it belongs…

Next, Kim Kardashian decides to keep her baby because she finds out on the Net that women who have abortions aren’t usually happy about that choice to kill their babies, and hurt their own bodies…

Now, actress Mackenzie Phillips says she had a 10-year sexual relationship with her dad, John Phillips of the old Mamas and the Papas vocal group. She said in her new book “High on Arrival” that her dad raped her, and later she got pregnant, didn’t know who the baby’s dad was. Her dad paid for her abortion. Mackenzie had a history of playing roles about rebellious teens. When Mackenzie told her story on Oprah’s show, Oprah went to commercial.

Now, I have just one question. Well maybe more than one… How could the sex be consensual when it started with rape? Rape isn’t consensual sex. The subsequent sexual encounters, even if it lasted for 10 years was more of being a longterm victim, than a consensual partner. A clinical psychologist says that Mackenzie was definitely a victim for years. Then, the abortion added to the abuse and pain.

So, options like the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, Rachel’s Vineyard Post Aboriton Healing Ministry, and all of the life affirming options should be explored, and people need to hear more about the choices that can heal rather than kill. Right?

From one group of African American Pastors and leaders to another…

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Some pastors and leaders are endorsing the President’s health care legislation because they believe at face value his claim that the bill won’t force the public to pay for abortions. Another group of Pastors and leaders, of whom yours truly is a part, challenges the Obamacare bill as it is being presented currently. Either way, it would appear that there is a growing base of African American pastors and leaders who are prolife, who are sending a message of no abortion funding in any health care bill.

For those who want to trust what President Obama is saying, proceed with caution, trust, but verify – demand that language be inserted that expressly bars taxpayer money from being used directly or indirectly for abortion and rationing that could lead to euthanasia.  If the President sincerely wants to keep abortion out of health care, he will support such an amendment.

And because social justice is so important, in every area, health care, education, economics and domestic issues, because we desire to help people, we must guard against supporting policies that will ultimately harm those we seek to serve.  Sometimes, we can be so eager to help, that we overlook facts. In the process to support President Obama, or any entity that receives government funding,  we need to take care that we don’t inadvertently promote abortion or other unsavory activities that limit if not totally contradict the good we seek to promote.”

MTV devil prayer is no joke!

Thursday, September 17th, 2009   I called some young friends this morning and they were laughing about Jack Black’s devil prayer. I told them that was no joke. Sometimes things can sound comical but be really serious. We talked about Kanye West’s yell out on MTV when he favored Beyonce over the winner. Talk about a breach of etiquette! The Put a Ring on It song was positive, though, telling girls to demand respect and marriage before giving out “free” sex. Seems like what’s right seems wrong and what’s wrong seems right too often these days. Young people are trying to find the way, how can we help them? Maybe holding life up as something sacred, not to be snuffed out no matter who says its okay?

Clever double speak is being exposed: Pro-Death voices can’t succeed in demonizing the choose life message!

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

All too often, the pro-death camp tries to say that the prolife message is anti-civil rights. They say that abortion is safe, and therapeutic, and that they are just trying to help people. Why was the pro-abortion camp so silent when Mr. Pouillon was murdered? Could it be because murder is so common in the abortion world, that one more murder didn’t matter? On the other hand, in the prolife world, we decried the Tiller murder, and prayed for his family. Even though we hated the message of abortion, we also hated the killing of the man who killed so many babies. Anyway, please check out the above link for two sides of the story that so many never hear. God bless you. Alveda

“Left” behind again in media reports by the question they are too ashamed to ask: Won’t the murder of James Pouillon set the abortion movement back?

Saturday, September 12th, 2009

Leaders at  Priests for Life, Father Frank Pavone, Janet Morana and Alveda King challenge the anti-life movement to cry out against the murder of James Pouillon. ( The media ignores the story during a press conference Friday while Dr. Johnny Hunter and other prolife leaders faced their cameras ( Pastor Arnold Culbreath noted that another martyr lost his life on 9/11 in the line of duty, a Warrior for Life (  Other leaders including Pastor Stephen Broden, among the first to sound the alarm; Day Gardner; Walter Hoye; Catherine Davis and many others say now is the time to sound the alarm. “Murder must cease if America is to live!” Alveda added: “Friends, please contact your local media and demand answers as to why this story was ignored while the Tiller story was exaulted?

Dr. Hunter said: “When Jim Pouillon was gunned down, he was holding a large photo of Jeremiah Trewhella taken when he was only four weeks old. Jeremiah’s father, Pastor Matt Trewhella, leader of Missionaries to the Preborn, with whom Jim joined in their pro-life tour last month, stated that this was not graphic. For news agencies, like the Detroit News, to call the picture of a little baby boy “a controversial anti-abortion display “ either shows how unreliable leftist articles are or it shows a disdain for the babies pro-lifers try to protect.

“Along with other prolifers from around the country, I participated in press conference held by the Florida Personhood Movement shortly after noon at the state capitol building in Tallahassee.  There was plenty of news coverage.  Not one reporter asked for comments concerning the murder of a pro-lifer and another man. I believe that if an abortionist and someone else had been shot, it would have the first question coming from the reporters. They probably would have asked did we believe that this would set the anti-abortion movement back. So, I will ask the obvious question that they are too ashamed to ask: “Won’t this set the anti-life movement back?”

Civil Rights Warrior gunned down today on 9/11

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Pray for the bereaved family… “First and foremost, violence is reprehensible. A sure way to stop the murdering spirit that is ravaging America is to stop murdering babies in the womb. We grieve with the family over the loss of yet another prolife valiant warrior.” Dr. Alveda C. King, Priest for Life Pastoral Associate

Father Frank Pavone: Pro-Life Activist killed while protesting abortion

September 11, 2009

There was a killing this morning of a prolife activist who was protesting abortion in front of a high school in Owossi, Michigan.

We do not know the motive yet. But this is a time to console one another, and to renew our determination to organize peaceful protests.

It is no time for fear. And I am waiting to hear the abortion advocates condemn this killing.

by Elizabeth Shaw | Flint Journal

Friday September 11, 2009, 8:52 AM

A police officer walks past the scene of a fatal shooting on Friday morning in front of Owosso High School.

OWOSSO, Michigan — State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell.

State police also confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody about 8:15 a.m. at the suspect’s home.

Owosso High School secretary Wendy Smith said the students remain in lockdown this morning and confirmed that no students were involved and all are safe with classes going on as normal. The shooting did not occur on school property, Smith said.

Meanwhile, police have completely ringed with police tape a section of North Street in front of the school.

A black car can be seen parked at the corner of North and Whitehaven streets, where a portable oxygen tank is lying in a front yard next to a large sign bearing the image of a baby and the word “Life.”
